Who we are
Stephen is an attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations. He has completed a Commercial and Court-aligned
Mediation Course through the Faculty of Law of the University of Cape Town and is an accredited mediator registered with Mediation in Motion.
In the early part of his career, he worked for the Department of Justice as a Regional Court Prosecutor before doing his articles and practicing as an attorney, focusing on family law and litigation. He then joined a large food business listed on the JSE as the Company Secretary and thereafter became Legal Director working in and overseeing all areas of corporate and employment law including mergers and acquisitions, contract law, litigation, trademarks and industrial relations. Over the 33-year period of his employment with the Company he, at various times, also headed up and was responsible for Ethics, Communications, Crisis Management and Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Affairs and the Corporate Social Investment work of the Company through its charitable Foundation.
Other interests include equestrian sports and aviation (in both of which he has competed at a provincial level) and generally keeping fit through activities such as
running and Pilates.
Stephen is a LifeLine Crisis counsellor and Chairman of LifeLine Durban.
