Conceptualization, Design & Rennovation Of Umfolozi Tvet Esikhawini Marine Campus – Launched In August 2019

Southern Seas Institute is honored to have been a part of the team that successfully established the UMfolozi Maritime Academy at Esikhawini, North of KwaZulu-Natal. The Academy was officially launched by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Nzimande on the 6th of August 2019. Southern Seas Institute’s role in the projects include the following:

1. Conceptualization, Design and Renovation of the building
2. Recruitment and selection of qualified and experienced lecturers for maritime programmes
3. Recruitment and selection of qualifying students
4. Design and development of maritime and transport related learning material
5. Obtain and maintain accreditation 
6. Sourcing of funds for the project
7. Capacity Building

UMfolozi Maritime Academy currently offers Marine Engineering and Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Short courses.
